How to get trace data for an SSH connection
** NOTE: Do not create the trace output file on $SYSTEM or any other high-use disk. **
1. Start STNCOM
STNCOM <STN process>
Example:
STNCOM $ZPTY
2. From the STNCOM prompt, start the trace as follows:
TRACE <file name>, <size>[K|M]
Where <file name> is the name of the output file containing the trace data
<size> is the size of the file. The range is 100KB to 50MB, with a default of 10MB
Examples:
TRACE $DATA1.STN.TRACE1, 50M
TRACE $WORK00.STAGE.TRFILE1, 500K
3. Reproduce the issue
4. From the STNCOM prompt, stop the trace
TRACE STOP
5. PAK the file using the filename provided in step #2.
EXAMPLE:
PAK -password <password> -ext 1000 -max 500 <archive name>, <trace file>,LISTALL,OPEN
<password> is the password of your choice (please be sure to send the password to us when sending the PAK file).
<archive name> is the eight-character maximum file name of your choosing for the PAK archive, e.g. TRACEPAK.
<trace file> is the name of the file containing the trace data
6. Download the file you defined in step 2 to your local workstation in binary format, and upload the data to the xypro.com support site in the "Client Files" section
