MARS: How to evaluate files report function with MARS
A fileset chooses files based upon the best matching pattern, as described in the MARS help section, "Guardian Patterns": "A file name may match a pattern for more than one fileset."
The most specific pattern is that which has the most non-wildcard characters in the most significant part of the pattern.
For example: The file name $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ001 is a more exact match to $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ001 than to $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ*.
Please note that the file name is more significant than the subvolume, which is more significant that the disk volume name. $*.NP10SQLS.SQ0* would be considered a better match than $WORK10.NP19SQLS.SQ* because SQ0* is a more exact match than SQ*.
Also, the File Property Criteria overrides the file pattern. For instance, if a fileset evaluates files owned by DEV.ALEX with the pattern $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ001 and another fileset evaluate files in the pattern $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ* with no file owner. The file $WORK10.NP10SQLS.SQ001 owned by QA.JON would be evaluated under the second fileset. Each of the "File Property Criteria" settings is evaluated prior to the file patterns for both the MARS scan for reload candidates and for the Evaluate Files report.
